The Douai School of Art is calling for applications for the third anniversary of “Expressions terre”, Small-Form Ceramics Competition 2018.

An international, biennial competition open to everyone, “Expressions terre” was established to encourage, promote, and show-case contemporary ceramics. It helps to establish dynamic links between the creation of ceramics and education, artistic instruction, and professional training.

Whether it is circled, open or closed; tied, knotted or braided; leafy, flowery or ornate, the crown is a fine jewelry with a rich significant and symbolic power. Therefore, throughout history, this unique headdress will crown kings, princes, lords, popes, goddesses, beauty queens, brides, poets or virgins in majesty...
Common object or masterpiece, of utilitarian or ornamental attribute, you will create one, two, or three crowns. You will define the function, use and symbolic value of your headdresses. This new edition of the small-shaped ceramics award, by the way, will be examining contemporary clay practices while questioning about the status of the object.
